What are promotional products?

Almost anything can be used as a promotional product. Look around a home, an office, in your car, and you will see such products in action. It may be the diary your bank gave you at Christmas; the magic ink mug you got from your printers, or the coaster you use with your insurance broker’s telephone number. The list is almost endless.

How do I choose the right product?
Our product range is extensive and we are equally happy to source a specific product or provide relevant suggestions for your consideration. We’re happy to meet with you to discuss your requirements, or you may choose to fax, email or telephone us. Although this is very much a consultancy service, our time spent meeting with you is free. Try to have as clear an idea of what you are trying to achieve and why. These factors all influence the choice of product for a given budget:

Purpose
For example, a new product launch, a new website, the re-launch of something, a corporate event, an exhibition, fund raising event etc…

Who is it aimed at
Understanding the target audience and what will appeal is very important.

Distribution
An important element of the equation is how the item is to be distributed as this impacts factors such as shape, size, weight and attendant costs, especially with mail shots.

The message

There are three related matters to consider.

The printed message
Depending upon the amount of information to be conveyed some products will have too small a print area.

Perceived value
Many products carry a very high perceived value relative to actual cost and a very important when showing any form of recognition, ‘thank you’ or in any situation where perceptions of value are key.

Presentation

The way an object is packaged / presented is also part of conveying the right message.

How much do I need to spend?
That’s a very difficult question to answer! As there is no definitive product, there is no definitive amount that should be spent to ensure impact or success. Instead, you should identify the number of people you would like to target and establish either a total price or unit price that you will feel comfortable spending. We can then make various suggestions within your budget.

Is there a Minimum order size?
There will often be a minimum order size, but this can vary quite a bit. Many products and some processes restrict the minimum order. We are able to source many order sizes below standard market minimums, but there may be a trade-off in terms of price.

Can I print anything on to a promotional product?
Modern graphic designs and printing, especially litho printing, have allowed businesses to use some truly stunning artwork. However, when it comes to a lot of promotional products there are some serious issues that need to be borne in mind:

Process limitations
Some processes used to print on certain products cannot reflect the range of colours, shading and designs available in standard printing. As such, compromises may have to be made. Just give us a sample of your artwork and we’ll advise you on the best way forward.

Product limitations
The limitations of some printing processes, combines with the shape or nature of the material of certain products can limit the type of print or range of suitable products. Again, we can help and advise you once we know what you want to achieve.

Cost implications

These are dictated by, amongst other things, the techniques and range of colours to be employed. For example, a one colour print will be less expensive than a three colour print and so on...

Can I use my existing graphic designer / supplier?
Yes. However, it is usually best that we work with them in order to save you costs and time. Should you not have a current supplier, we can provide this service for you.

What format should artwork be provided in?
This can vary, depending on the product and printing process to be used. We will advise you once we have identified the right product and printing method for your business.

Do promotional products work?
We are often asked to comment on how cost effective promotional products are. Clearly, much depends on finding the right product for your business – and one best suited to the area in which you do business. However, consider an advert in a trade magazine or directory that can cost hundreds or even thousands of pounds, yet potentially only be seen by very few of your target audience. If they do not use the directory to look for your service, they will never see your message, whereas a well chosen promotional product can reach most of your target audience – and on a regular basis!

How long are your delivery times?
As with most things in life, planning in plenty of time helps. There are many short turn-around products, but they may not be the ones you want.

Can I get samples?

Samples can be obtained of all our products. However, these may be charged for - please call for further information.

Do you have a brochure?

Yes - and no! The range of products available to us is so extensive that it would be impossible to produce a definitive brochure. Most standard promotional catalogues devote a few pages to pens, for example. If we put our range into one single brochure, it would easily exceed four inches in thickness! However, we do recognise that many people just need ideas, so we have a three-pronged approach:

Focused material
if for example, you require ideas on outdoor work wear, we can send relevant material.

Meetings
if you want to talk through ideas, we are very happy to meet with you and show you samples, brochures and other materials.

Broad general brochures

we have several broad based brochures which are Focused against different budgets / needs.
